Kuwait News website has introduced an artificial intelligence-based virtual news presenter named ‘Fedha.’ The AI news anchor appeared on the Twitter account of the website on Saturday. The website plans to make Fedha read online bulletins in the future. Abdullah Boftain, Deputy Editor in Chief of Kuwait News, said that the move aims to test AI’s potential to provide new and innovative content.

Fedha made her debut as an image of a woman wearing a black jacket and white T-shirt with light-colored hair uncovered. In her first 13-second video, she introduced herself in classical Arabic and asked viewers about their preferences for news.

The site affiliated with Kuwait Times founded Kuwait News in 1961 as the Gulf region’s first English-language daily. Fedha, the AI news anchor, could also adopt the Kuwaiti accent and present news bulletins on the site’s Twitter account, which has 1.2 million followers, in the future.

The introduction of Fedha has created a stir on social media, with many users sharing her first video. Some have expressed their excitement about this innovative approach to news presentation. However, others have raised concerns about the potential impact of AI-generated news presenters on human employment in the media industry.
