President Sheikh Mohamed welcomed President Widodo, who is on a two-day state visit, recognizing the longstanding and constructive relationship between the UAE and Indonesia. He highlighted this visit as a testament to their shared commitment to deepen cooperation across various sectors including economy, investment, and renewable energy.

The leaders reviewed collaborative ventures in critical areas such as food security, infrastructure, education, and climate action, emphasizing their significance to the sustainable development goals of both nations. President Sheikh Mohamed expressed gratitude towards President Widodo for his role in enhancing these bilateral ties since his tenure began in 2014.

Significant economic strides were noted with the non-oil trade between the two nations escalating from USD 2.7 billion in 2014 to USD 4.4 billion in 2023. This growth was further buoyed by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed last year, marking a major milestone in their economic cooperation.

The UAE and Indonesia have fostered deep cultural and institutional ties, exemplified by landmarks such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo City and the Mohamed bin Zayed-Joko Widodo International Mangrove Research Centre. These symbols of friendship underline the strong bond between the two leaders and their nations.

President Widodo praised the fruitful collaboration over the past decade and expressed his anticipation to further strengthen these ties. He highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation particularly in renewable energy and environmental protection, noting that the UAE is Indonesia’s premier Middle Eastern partner in establishing a Comprehensive Economic Partnership.

The meeting also witnessed the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements, aiming to bolster cooperation in areas like solar energy, public budget management, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy. These agreements are expected to pave the way for substantial future investments and joint ventures.

Both leaders affirmed their commitment to a continued partnership that promises to set a benchmark for development and growth in their respective regions. This meeting not only reaffirms their dedication to achieving shared goals but also sets a forward path for further strategic and economic engagements in the future.
