UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) arrived in New Alamein City on Monday for a fraternal visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, where he was received by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at El Alamein International Airport. The two leaders exchanged warm greetings and held discussions highlighting the longstanding bilateral relationship between their nations. President El-Sisi welcomed Sheikh Mohamed as a valued guest and emphasized the depth of the historical ties binding Egypt and the UAE, referencing the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in fostering Arab unity and cooperation.

Sheikh Mohamed and President El Sisi meet in Alamein to strengthen UAE-Egypt bilateral relations.

Egyptian presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy confirmed that the visit would extend over several days, with a series of meetings planned in the coastal city of New Alamein. The visit marks another chapter in an ongoing pattern of high-level engagement between Cairo and Abu Dhabi, underpinned by mutual cooperation in areas including economic development, security coordination, and regional diplomacy. Sheikh Mohamed’s arrival in Egypt follows a recent visit to Angola, where he witnessed the signing of a comprehensive economic partnership agreement.

In New Alamein, the Emirati and Egyptian presidents are expected to review regional developments and discuss ways to enhance cooperation between their countries across multiple sectors. Official statements have so far focused on the symbolic and strategic importance of the visit, but no formal agenda has been released. This is not the first time the leaders have met this year. In March, Sheikh Mohamed visited Egypt for an official meeting during Ramadan, where President El-Sisi hosted an iftar banquet.

Recent meetings build momentum in UAE-Egypt partnership

That occasion focused on expanding bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and development spheres. A subsequent meeting took place in June in Abu Dhabi, where both presidents discussed investment and trade ties along with regional challenges. New Alamein City, the location of the visit, has emerged as a central element in Egypt’s national urban development strategy. The city is positioned along the country’s northwestern Mediterranean coast and is one of several fourth-generation cities currently under development.

Designed to accommodate residential, administrative, educational, and tourism functions, New Alamein features government facilities, cultural institutions, high-rise buildings, and recreational zones. The UAE and Egypt maintain close economic relations, with the Emirates ranking among Egypt’s top foreign investors. Joint ventures span sectors including construction, energy, real estate, telecommunications, and infrastructure. Recent years have also seen increased cooperation in renewable energy initiatives and food security partnerships.

    High-level engagements underscore diplomatic continuity

Diplomatic coordination between the two countries has remained active across regional forums, with both governments maintaining alignment on a range of international issues. Egypt and the UAE have also held joint military exercises and defense dialogues, reflecting broader strategic alignment. Their cooperation is rooted in a history of political support and shared regional interests, particularly in promoting stability and development in the Middle East and North Africa.

The current visit comes amid a backdrop of ongoing diplomatic activity in the region, as Egypt continues to promote foreign investment and infrastructure development through its megacity initiatives, and the UAE pursues regional economic integration through its strategic partnerships. The visit is expected to reinforce the strength of the bilateral relationship and continue a tradition of high-level engagement between the leadership of both countries. Official coverage from both governments has emphasized the fraternal nature of the visit, with public messaging focused on unity, continuity, and collaboration. – By Content Syndication Services.
